Essen is owned by Seth (Skip) Schwarzman and Lynn Buono, husband and wife, who also own Feast Your Eyes Catering and the event venue, Front & Palmer. They have been successful caterers for 30 years, with experience in small, intimate events, weddings and mitzvahs, and large corporate events for as many as 12,000. When they moved the business from Northern Liberties to the Arts District in South Kensington, and built Front & Palmer, they added both milk and meat kitchens so they could launch Essen. Each kitchen is kept locked and is under temidi (i.e., constant) supervision. Skip was raised in a kosher home, and their daughters were bat mitzvah at Rodeph Shalom. Essen is supervised by Traditional Kosher Supervision, a conservative hechsher.
